Tsipouri is a coastal complex on Lesvos, designed by Trichonas Architecture as eight private villas set directly above the shoreline. Each villa has its own pool. A central restaurant and reception anchor the shared areas without imposing on the privacy of the individual units. From above, the complex reads as a loose cluster of low horizontal volumes, embedded in the rocky coastal landscape rather than placed on top of it.

The site does most of the work. Rocky outcrops, Mediterranean pine, and the particular texture of the Lesvos coastline frame each villa without any designed intervention needed. The architecture stays low and quiet, letting the Aegean carry the visual weight. Rooftop planting and earth-toned materials keep the volumes from reading as foreign objects in the landscape.
Tsipouri is not a hotel. It is not a private residence either. It sits between those two things — a place designed for people who choose Lesvos as a way of life rather than a short stay. That distinction shaped every decision about scale, privacy, and the relationship between shared and private space. IDAA developed the visualization for this project, working across both the bird’s-eye reads that establish the complex in its coastal context and the ground-level renders that show what it feels like to actually be there.
